The PEIC held its second annual in-person member meeting at HRL Laboratories in Malibu, California on Thursday, November 6, 2014.
The 15 attending organizations represented a cross-section of PEIC members and nonmembers from national laboratories, academia, and businesses of varying sizes. During the meeting, attendees collaboratively discussed opportunities to strengthen the PEIC’s ability to advance the U.S. power electronics supply chain, including prospective workforce development initiatives and engagement activities with both federal and state-level governments.
Speakers from Jet Propulsion Laboratory, HRL Laboratories, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and North Carolina State University provided their insight and unique point-of-view on the state of the U.S. power electronics industry. Additionally, PEIC member organization, NextEnergy, presented preliminary research gathered through the PEIC’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Consortia (AMTech) project entitled “Strengthening the Domestic Power Electronics Ecosystem,” which was awarded to the PEIC by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in June 2014.
